The URL Price Entries section is the core of PriceFetchWP.
This is where you define the external websites PriceFetchWP should recognize and how prices should be retrieved from those sources.
For normal website fetching, each URL Entry connects an external domain with one or more selectors used to locate the Regular Price and/or Sale Price.
A URL Entry can also be configured to use a supported Affiliate API or Proxy provider through Advanced Options.
Once an entry is configured, PriceFetchWP can use it dynamically across your site whenever a matching external URL is encountered.

– How URL Entries Work
A URL Entry acts as the configuration PriceFetchWP uses for a particular external website.
For example:
example.commight have:
Sale Price Selector:
.product-sale-price
Regular Price Selector:
.product-regular-priceWhen PriceFetchWP encounters an external URL such as:
https://example.com/products/example-productit recognizes the domain and uses the matching URL Entry configuration.
The exact product/page URL can be different each time.
You normally only need one URL Entry for a website unless a special integration requires otherwise.
– How URL Entries Work for WooCommerce
For WooCommerce External/Affiliate products, the general process is:
- The WooCommerce product is processed.
- PriceFetchWP checks for the configured WooCommerce custom field.
- The external product URL is read from the custom field value.
- The external URL domain is matched to a PriceFetchWP URL Entry.
- PriceFetchWP checks whether a valid cached price is available.
- If a new fetch is needed, the matching URL Entry configuration is used.
- PriceFetchWP retrieves the Regular Price and/or Sale Price.
- The WooCommerce product price is updated according to your settings.
- The fetched price can be cached for the configured amount of time.
Using the default WooCommerce configuration, the custom field name is:
external_price_fetchThe custom field value should contain the full original external product URL.
See: WooCommerce Settings for complete WooCommerce configuration information.
– How URL Entries Work for Pages and Posts
For Page/Post price output, the general process is:
- The page or post loads.
- PriceFetchWP detects the configured shortcode.
- The shortcode contains the external product/page URL.
- PriceFetchWP matches that URL to a configured URL Entry.
- A cached price is used when available.
- If a new fetch is required, the matching URL Entry configuration is used.
- PriceFetchWP displays the retrieved price according to your Page/Post settings.
This allows one URL Entry to support many different product URLs from the same external website.
– Why URL Entries Are Needed
Different websites use different HTML structures and different ways of storing prices.
URL Entries allow you to:
- Connect multiple external price sources
- Configure different selectors for each website
- Retrieve both Sale Price and Regular Price values
- Add fallback selectors for different page layouts
- Configure caching per external source
- Pause individual price sources
- Use supported Affiliate APIs
- Route difficult websites through supported Proxy providers
- Apply request settings only where needed
This gives you control over how each external price source is handled without requiring one global configuration for every website.
– Adding a URL Entry
Go to:
WordPress Dashboard → PriceFetchWP → URL Price Entries
Click: Add New Entry +
A new URL Entry will be added to the list.
Each entry is numbered so you can easily identify it while configuring or testing your sources.
The entry number is only used to help organize the settings.
– Domain
Enter the domain PriceFetchWP should recognize.
For example:
example.comYou do not normally need to enter a complete product URL here.
The individual product/page URL is provided later through your Page/Post shortcode or WooCommerce custom field.
For example, this product URL:
https://www.example.com/products/example-productcan match a URL Entry configured for:
example.comPriceFetchWP validates the actual hostname when matching external URLs.
– Sale Price Selector
The Sale Price Selector tells PriceFetchWP where to look for the current/sale price.
For example:
.product-sale-priceor an XPath such as:
//span[@class='sale-price']A Sale Price selector is optional.
If you only need a Regular Price, you can leave the Sale Price selector empty.
– Regular Price Selector
The Regular Price Selector tells PriceFetchWP where to look for the normal or comparison price.
For example:
.product-regular-priceor:
//s[@class='compare-price']The Regular Price selector is also optional.
You may configure:
- Sale Price only
- Regular Price only
- Both Sale Price and Regular Price
depending on the external website and how you want prices displayed.
– Selector Type
Each price selector must have a selector type.
PriceFetchWP currently supports:
- XPath
- ID
- Class
- Script
Choose the type that matches the selector you entered.
For example:
XPath
//span[@class='price']ID
product-priceClass
product-priceScript
#viewed_product::PriceScript selectors can retrieve compatible price values stored inside script data already present in the fetched HTML.
Script selectors do not execute JavaScript.
See: Finding Price Selectors for more information.
– Also Check Selectors
Some websites use more than one product-page layout.
For example, one product might use:
product-pricewhile another product on the same website uses:
current-priceUse: Also check (Secondary Selectors) to add fallback selector rows.
PriceFetchWP processes the configured selector rows in order until it finds a usable price.
Each Also Check row can contain its own:
- Sale Price Selector
- Sale Price Selector Type
- Regular Price Selector
- Regular Price Selector Type
This allows a single URL Entry to support several variations of the same external website.
You can configure multiple selector rows when needed.
– Reverse Order
Some websites place two prices inside the same selector.
For example:
$4.99 $9.99or:
$9.99 $4.99PriceFetchWP includes price-order controls to help interpret these layouts.
Reverse order is only available when the applicable:
WooCommerce style price format is selected.
If WooCommerce style is not selected, Reverse order is disabled.
See: Reverse Price Logic for examples and configuration information.
– Test Entry
Every URL Entry includes: Test Entry
We strongly recommend using Test Entry before putting a URL Entry into use.
Test Entry allows you to enter an exact product/page URL and verify:
- Whether the source can be reached
- Whether a price was found
- Sale Price and Regular Price results
- Which selector row matched
- Which selector type matched
- Direct, Proxy, or Affiliate fetch mode
- HTTP status
- Request timing
- Proxy cost when available
- Raw HTML returned by the source
You can also change selectors or Advanced Options and test them before saving the URL Entry.
See: Testing a URL Entry for complete information.
– Advanced Options
Each URL Entry has its own: Advanced Options
These settings allow you to customize how that specific external source is handled.
Depending on your configuration, Advanced Options may include settings for:
- Price Cache
- Request timeout
- User-Agent
- Referer Header
- SSL Verification
- Affiliate Integration
- Proxy Integration
- Other request behavior
You normally do not need to change every Advanced Option.
Only use the settings required by that particular external website.
– Affiliate Entries
A URL Entry can use a supported Affiliate API instead of normal website selectors.
Open: Advanced Options and enable: Use affiliate
Then select a configured Affiliate provider.
When Affiliate mode is active:
- The Affiliate API becomes the price source
- Normal selector controls are disabled
- The applicable Affiliate domain is locked
- Proxy mode cannot be used on the same entry
- An Affiliate indicator appears beside the entry number
Each Affiliate provider can only be assigned to one URL Entry at a time.
For example:
Amazon — in use (Entry 1)may appear if Amazon is already assigned elsewhere.
See: Affiliate Integration for full setup instructions.
– Proxy Entries
A URL Entry can optionally use one of PriceFetchWP’s supported Proxy providers when a normal Direct Fetch is not sufficient.
When Proxy mode is active, an indicator such as:
Proxy: Scrapflyor:
Proxy: PhantomJSCloudappears beside the entry number.
Proxy settings are configured under: Advanced Options
Affiliate and Proxy modes cannot be enabled on the same URL Entry.
See: Proxy Integration for additional information.
– Affiliate / Proxy Status Indicator
PriceFetchWP displays a small status indicator beside the URL Entry number when an entry uses a special fetch mode.
Examples:
1 Affiliate2 Proxy: Scrapfly3 Proxy: PhantomJSCloudIf the URL Entry uses a normal Direct Fetch, no special status indicator is displayed.
This allows you to quickly identify Affiliate and Proxy entries without opening Advanced Options.
– Pause Entry
Individual URL Entries can be paused.
When an entry is paused, PriceFetchWP temporarily stops using that URL Entry for normal price retrieval.
This can be useful when:
- An external website is temporarily unavailable
- You are troubleshooting an entry
- A selector needs to be updated
- You temporarily do not want requests sent to that source
Pausing an entry allows you to keep its configuration without deleting it.
Resume the entry when you are ready to use it again.
– Price Cache
PriceFetchWP supports global price caching, but each URL Entry can also have its own cache timing through Advanced Options.
This is useful when different external sources need different refresh schedules.
For example:
Website A → refresh every 4 hours
Website B → refresh every 12 hoursIf no custom cache value is configured for the URL Entry, the global Price Cache setting is used.
See: Price Cache for more information.
– Quick Save
Use: Quick Save to save your PriceFetchWP settings without refreshing the page.
This is especially useful while working with URL Entries because you can make changes, save them quickly, and continue configuring the page.
You can also use the main: Save Changes button.
– Reordering URL Entries
URL Entries can be organized within the PriceFetchWP settings page.
The entry numbers update to reflect their current order.
Reordering entries is primarily an organizational feature and helps keep large collections of external price sources easier to manage.
– Adding Multiple URL Entries
Click: Add New Entry + whenever you need to configure another external website.
You can create URL Entries for many different external sources.
For example:
Entry 1 → example-store.com
Entry 2 → another-store.com
Entry 3 → retailer-example.comEach entry can have its own:
- Selectors
- Selector types
- Also check selectors
- Cache timing
- Advanced request settings
- Proxy configuration
- Affiliate configuration where supported
– Example Setup
A normal URL Entry might look like:
Domain
example-store.comSale Price Selector
sale-priceSale Price Type
ClassRegular Price Selector
regular-priceRegular Price Type
ClassA product URL such as:
https://example-store.com/products/example-productwould then use this URL Entry.
Before using it on your site, click: Test Entry and verify the correct prices are returned.
⚠️ Common Issues
The exact product URL does not match my URL Entry
Make sure the URL Entry contains the correct external domain.
For example:
example.comshould be used for product URLs from that website.
Use Test Entry with the exact product/page URL to verify that PriceFetchWP recognizes the source.
No price is found
Run Test Entry.
If the page is successfully fetched but the price is not found, check:
- Selector value
- Selector type
- Sale Price vs. Regular Price configuration
- Also check selectors
- Raw HTML
The price works on some products but not others
The external website may use more than one page layout.
Use: Also check to configure additional fallback selectors.
Test several product URLs from the same domain.
The external website cannot be fetched
Check the HTTP status and Test Entry result.
The website may:
- Block server-based requests
- Rate limit requests
- Require a Proxy provider
- Return different content than your browser receives
See: Blocked Requests and Proxy Integration
An Affiliate provider cannot be selected
Check: Affiliate Integration
The provider must be configured before it becomes available.
Also make sure it is not already assigned to another URL Entry.
Each Affiliate provider can only be used by one URL Entry at a time.
– Recommended URL Entry Workflow
When adding a new external source:
- Click Add New Entry +
- Enter the external domain
